In August, Specialist Search Dogs supported the Ingleton Show, helping to raise awareness and funds for the charity. Thank you to Lauren and Rod for judging the dog show and representing SSD within the community.
The month also included three days of Continuous Training (CT), covering all disciplines, with additional sessions focused on rope work—thank you to Steven Band for leading these exercises. We were also proud to welcome the next generation of SSD K9s to training for the first time.
Our Therapy Dog teams continued to make a real difference across the community. Over recent weeks, teams completed visits to care homes in Fife, Falkirk, and Broughty Ferry (near Dundee), as well as Stratheden mental health hospital, where staff and residents benefited from the dogs’ presence. Support visits also included work with children in Fife, and student wellbeing callouts, with a primary school in Fife reaching out for ongoing support. We also visited Leuchars to support serving personnel
