In May, two of our dog teams took part in an international training weekend in Germany hosted by Institut der BAG – RHV, working alongside search and rescue teams from Denmark, the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and Canada. Training opportunities like this strengthen cross-border collaboration and improve shared standards within the SAR community. Special thanks to Ina Lampert and Maik Lampert for organising and supporting the event.
We also completed three intensive days of CPD training with renowned HRD specialist Andrea Pintar, focusing on odour discrimination, scent theory, and HRD application across varied terrain and environments, supported by scenario-based practical sessions. Thank you to Lindsay Sielski and Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for hosting the training, and special thanks to Niamh Darcy for valuable advice and knowledge-sharing.
Closer to home, our teams delivered a dedicated training weekend at the Inn on the Loch (Dumfries). Friday included operational readiness assessments, followed by boat-based water training for younger dogs and performance review for experienced teams. The weekend also included development work with additional water-search tools, including sonar equipment and drones, supporting our continued focus on effective, deployment-ready capability.
